SAND BALLS: Open Lab Summary 06/10

On this traffic-filled-because-USA-is-opening-up-because-we're-all-pretty-much-vaccinated-or-anti-vax-unfortunately day, Wei, Dai, Alex, and I (kat) were lucky enough to hang out in real life.

Alex had a new T-Rex stuffed animal that also made an appearance at Open Lab.

We went through some pictures from Wei and Dai's trip... the dinosaur was very interested.

Zach. Artist.

Then Zach shared some art with us. He spends a lot of time on his personal beach so he first shared a short video that he made of himself where he did some time wizardry on the beach, set to Phillip Glass.

But then we got to see this Sand Globes project of his, where people make sand globes!

Since discovering a technique for making near-perfect spheres from just sand and water in 2000, I've used sand globe making in this project to connect people with each other and with coastal areas. I've spread sand globe making worldwide using social media #sandglobes and #sandglobe – Zach Pine

Meanwhile, hybrid-online-offline open lab shenanigans ensue.
