Dream a Little Dream of Me: Open Lab Summary 05/19

Welcome to day 120979713413482 of Covid Zoom purgatory. I – the mysterious blogwriter narration voice in your head as you read this – am back at last. We're reluctantly stuck in virtual purgatory together for a while longer.

But this is how Open Lab went on this fine day. The theme of the week (and also the past couple of weeks, apparently) was dreams.

FIRST THING: We record a video and send it to Alex. Surprise to come later.

Out of context quote 1: "Can you create a piece of technology that measures my stillness?"

SECOND THING: Wei talks about AI dream pulling. USCS has a very large Dreambank. The Dreambank data consists of almost 30,000 dream journal entries spanning several decades submitted by 74 different dreamers. See more about this work here.

Dai and Wei had worked on some cool beans stuff – dance on top of dreamscapes that are augmented with AI.

Our good friend Daniel showed us his life in dreamscape. It was his heroes journey. Now he's got his passion.

DREAMSCAPE JAM

We split up into groups and got stuff DONE. Three groups, three 1-minute performances. We took inspiration from a dream from the Dream Bank and came up with performances. They included mirrors, interpretive dancing, and Wei filming Dai.

Our meetup group is here and come play  and dance with us between 6-7:15 PM Pacific time on Wednesdays!
